BULLETIN 4
Good progress is still being made towards our goal of completing the Business Plan and obtaining Outline Planning Permission for the building. However, the Steering Committee has been reduced to just five members as both Brian Halliday and John Cunningham have suffered health problems which has resulted in them not being available to assist in the development plan. Nigel Maltby, whilst still supporting the project, has also resigned due to his many other commitments with the RDTTA. This has put an additional burden on those of us left on the committee to take the project forward. There has been an offer to assist with the Business Plan from Stuart Williams and we will be asking him to assist us once the major issues have been addressed. However, it would be helpful to the team if someone could take on the position of Minute Secretary as this would relieve Colin Dyke of this task so that he can concentrate on completing the Business Plan. Most of the meetings are during the day so it would suit someone who is semi-retired or not working. Also additional assistance is needed to cover both ‘Publicity’ and ‘Fund-Raising’ and to bring further ideas to the table for consideration. Please contact any of the team to discuss how you can help.
Alan Dines is still working towards the planning application for the building. There are still one or two areas to be sorted prior to seeking outline planning permission. As you can see from the picture below, this is a major undertaking.
It has been the dream for many RDTTA members to have such a centre in Reading and, if this committee can achieve its objective, it will be a table tennis establishment to be very proud of. Lisa Bosley, the ETTA Regional Development Officer, is working very hard on our behalf to seek funding for the venture. It will not be easy but I believe that the centre can be viable with your support and encouragement. Please offer whatever little help you can to keep this venture on track.
